Nothing draws attention to a nice ride like a clean set of custom car wheels. Custom wheels need to be taken care of to keep their shine and to protect against abrasive brake dust. Taking good care of the wheels will protect the investment and add value to the car.
The wheels should be cleaned before the rest of the car. To clean custom car wheels starting by spraying a wheel cleaner on the wheels and let it sit for the amount of time listed on the cleaner. Rinse the wheel cleaner off after the allotted time using moderate pressure and point the water in a downward direction- brake dust is abrasive and shouldn’t be splattered on the body of the car.
Fill a bucket with a soap and water solution and clean the custom car wheels, rinsing the sponge with a hose before dipping it back into the bucket. A toothbrush or small detailing brush will be needed to get around the air valve, or if the wheels are wire spoke wheels. Rinse the wheel well, again with moderate pressure and a downward angle.
The rest of the car can now be washed, after that the custom car wheels can be dried. A soft cloth should be used to prevent water spots and to pick up any leftover grunge. If the wheels are chrome special chrome polishes can be used to make the wheels really gleam.
