Forged black custom wheels are some of the highest quality wheels that can be purchased. A forged wheel is subjected to extreme heat and pressure which makes the metal very dense which provides the increased amount of strength that is associated with forged wheels. Aluminum, steel and magnesium are all commonly forged and alloyed materials. Since the wheel is stronger and denser it can be thinner to cut weight.

Cast black custom wheels are much more affordable than forged wheels because they are not subject to the extreme pressure of the forging process. They are still good wheels but may be more prone to corrosion and deterioration if not kept clean. They are light, but not nearly as strong and durable which is reflected in the price. Processes vary from manufacturer to manufacturer which can make one cast model better than another company’s forged model.

Billeted black custom wheels are some of the best and most expensive wheels on the market. They are machined out of a solid block of metal, often an alloy of aluminum and magnesium although steel is still used in many models to lower the price. Billeted wheels are often multiple pieces, the merits of which are still up for debate and widely questioned. Some people swear by them, others at them.
