For heavy duty applications that require a little bit of bling there are no better wheels than 8 lug chrome wheels. On a typical mid sized car there will be four to five lugs that attach the wheel to the axel. This is plenty for most driving requirements and many people wouldn’t even notice the difference, but for environments where high torque is present such as hauling heavy loads or climbing steep faces more lugs improve the strength of the wheel.
8 lug chrome wheels have more connections to the axel which makes the entire wheel much stronger. The strength of any system is measured by its weakest piece. Even if a simple bolt fails it can make the entire system useless. This is true for trucks and off-road vehicles as well. Lose the connection between the wheel and the axel and the truck becomes an expensive seat in the middle of nowhere.
8 lug chrome wheels are more difficult to find than other aftermarket wheels. This often drives up the cost as many have to be custom made. Larger wheel dealers often carry a few designs, but their cost and size prevents larger stocks. One of the easiest place to find them is online, but be sure to take accurate measurements of the bolt pattern and rim diameter for proper installation.
